Stop and Spin in the Snowflakes
When she asked if she could run around in the snow when we got home my knee jerk thought was no- we need to get inside, the baby fell asleep in the car, we need to make lunch, etcetera etcetera.
Then I stopped myself. I remembered how exciting it was as a kid to see the first snowflakes of winter.
I remember being picked up from preschool on a day just like today, 31 years ago, and my grandma letting me catch snowflakes on the back patio because it was the first snowfall of the season.
So when we pulled in and got out- I told her to run around and catch as many as she could. The smile alone was worth it.
We are always in such a hurry to get on to the next thing. Cross that item off of today’s to-do list.
But at the cost of what?
Today I am thankful that I was allowed to stop and spin in the snowflakes those many years ago.
Like our babies, the snow doesn’t stick around for ever.
May we all slow down long enough to enjoy a spin and catch some snowflakes ❄️
